The Venue

By Car (A69 from Carlisle): 

  • Turn right at the start of the dual carriageway, following signs to Hexham

  • Continue to traffic lights at The Fox Pub (approx 2 miles)

  • At the lights, take the sharp right turn signposted to Alston/Allendale (B6305)

  • Take the second right onto Whetstone Bridge Road (We will mark the turn!)

  • For The Winter Gardens take the second left and you'll come to the carpark.

The Winter Gardens were constructed in 1907 as an extension of the Tynedale Hydropathic Hotel. Once playing host to Hollywood greats Douglas Fairbanks Junior and Charles Laughton and leading Politicians of the day including British Prime Minister Ramsey Macdonald. The Hydro is now a Grade II Listed Building and forms part of Queen Elizabeth High School.

GPS: To get GPS directions search for Whetstone Bridge Road, Hexham, NE46 3JB. 

By Train: From Hexham Station the venue is approximately a 1 mile taxi journey or a 25 minute walk.

By Car (A69 from Newcastle): 

  • Turn left at roundabout onto A6079

  • Over the river and straight over the next roundabout

  • Over the railway bridge and left at the mini roundabout

  • Turn right at the roundabout to follow the main shopping street through five pedestrian traffic lights 

  • Take the left fork at the traffic light at the Fox Pub, signposted to Alston/Allendale (B6305)

  • Take the second right onto Whetstone Bridge Road (We will mark the turn!)

  • For The Winter Gardens take the second left and you'll come to the carpark.
